Saratoga County Ghosts by David J. Pitkin – Short Review

Saratoga County, New York is filled with ghosts, possibly more than author David J Pitkin can discuss in this 1998 collection of ghost stories.
This collection is good for:
- Short ghost stories that will make you paranoid (or at least made me a little paranoid)
- Mostly non-scary stories – Pitkin discusses in the intro that he believes Hollywood misrepresents ghosts
- A map of each town in Saratoga County
- A one paragraph description of each town before the ghost stories
I’m not sure if I believe ghosts are real. I think they are because I believe that once we die, something has to happen with what makes us alive…which could be our souls, but it might not be (what do I know). I don’t know much, so I don’t totally write off the phenomenon of lost souls that (or maybe who?) are traveling to their next destination or get stuck here for awhile. It’s entirely plausible.
And also kind of interesting that I’ve always heard there’s the next step after this life that we obviously don’t know about. But just like every other specific process that we learn, it doesn’t always happen “by the book.” So some spirits/souls might go right to whatever the next step or next life is, some might stick around for a couple years, some might get stuck and can’t leave, some might come back to visit. But even though there are people who have a definitive opinion on ghosts/spirits/souls, I respectfully and honestly don’t think they even know.
Read on and think on.
