One of my current reads if The Fellowship of the Ring by JRR Tolkien, and I was just absolutely thrilled to post with a hashtag regarding the author on instagram before.
This was an interesting reaction for me to have. I sometimes want to participate in the popular bookstagram posts and things that are happening, and other times I want nothing to do with the popular posts. I think that’s just generally who I am as reader and as a person – you see it in the types of books I pick up as well. Sometimes I pick up books that no one’s ever heard of, sometimes (I believe very little, but it may be a tad more than that) I read new and hyped books.
I can’t figure it out entirely- I seem to be a mystery. Or, maybe there’s no mystery about it. Maybe that’s my MO – I want to partially enjoy things with others so I don’t feel completely alone, and then when I’ve had enough I fuck off to do my own thing.

Here’s what my post pretty much said on instagram if anyone is interested:

This book is soooo long and soooo different from the movie. I am also so glad that I waited to read this until now. I was talking to my sister about when she tried reading it when she was in high school last night and how she said she couldn’t get past chapter 1…she has more patience than I do, so it was definitely a great choice to wait for me to mature and have some patience with reading to enjoy it. Though, I’m not a saint or anything because I’m going to need something paced a little faster next.
💚
I still love this little journey (even though we’ve just gotten to Rivendell and it’s taking FOREVER).
I’m also currently reading:
- Becoming Ray Bradbury by Jonathan R Eller
- Blood & Ash by Deborah Wilde
Read on.
