reading is everything

Share five things you’re good at.

Reading.

Disciplining myself for exercise.

Making to do lists.

Organization.

Data tracking.

All of the four skills after reading help with my reading. Here’s how:

Exercise not only helps with discipline and focus, but it gets the energy and extra anxiety out of my system for the day. So when I work out before reading, I am calmer in mind and body to direct my full attention to what I’m reading.

Reading gives a plethora of skills that can translate into other activities that not only require reading, but require organization, language skills [and more skills that I can’t think of at the moment]. But making to do lists (which I do 99% of the time) can help my reading by reminding me to read for the day. It can also help me to get a nonfiction read in, as well as reminding myself to take notes and write reviews on what I’ve read.

Organization easily helps me find where the majority of my books are. Very rarely can I not find a book on my shelves.

And my experience with data collection and tracking translates to tracking my reading. Gathering info and tracking the books that I read also helps me understand what kind of a reader I am, gives me repetition as to what I’ve read (thus I have an easier time remembering the books that I’ve read), and actually motivates me to keep reading.

Everything comes back to books, reading, and learning for me.
