prospering in a longer life

What are your thoughts on the concept of living a very long life?

What a funny question to come up as a prompt when I’ve been meaning to “photograph” (if you can really call pictures taken on my phone photography) my newly purchased books for the series The Immortal Nicholas Flamel.

Originally I was curious when I stumbled on this series because I had just finished the first Harry Potter. And upon reading reviews, I saw it has nothing to do with Harry Potter. But I still thought it’d be cool to read this series that I haven’t heard of or seen anywhere else. I love those kinds of hidden gems.

As for living a long life, I think it’s a wonderful concept. A longer life brings more challenges and experiences, love and knowledge.

I’ve sadly watched my grandparents deteriorate throughout the years, spending that time of their lives watching television in their basement. In the last few months, I have become friends with an older couple on my street who are up there in age, but still actively living. They work part time, walk their young dog daily, and stay fairly active. This is what it means to me to live a long life – continue to do as much as possible in my potential range as well as being productive and contributing to society.

Personally, living a longer life would give me more time to spend with my husband and watch the family that we’ll have created together grow. I’ll have so many homestead memories and more to create. There’ll be even more books to enjoy. My continued active lifestyle would inspire my children and grandchildren to pursue the same. I’d have more animals to love and cherish the gifts that they can give us and dogs to save and run through the woods with.

And I’d be able to pass my wisdom down to those newlyweds who have just moved down the street from me.
