What I’ve been reading lately, while ignoring this blog and getting stuck laughing at mom and political memes on my personal Instagram.

- The Book You Wish Your Parents had Read by Philippa Perry
- Christmas Crimes at the Mysterious Bookshop, edited by Otto Penzler

Currently reading
- Embrace the Suck by Brent Gleeson
- Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
On hiatus for a year (oops)
- Return of the King by JRR Tolkien
I’ve never been one to really pick up mysteries except for Agatha Christie and the random Tana French that I read this summer. But I did find a few authors in Christmas Crimes at the Mysterious Bookshop whose works I’ll keep an eye out for.
- Lyndsay Faye
- Jeffrey Deaver
- Ragnar Jónasson

An interesting collection of crime short stories, The Mysterious Bookshop is apparently a real bookstore in NYC (messed up that I’m now finding out about it having vowed to never step foot into the city again). Owner Otto Penzler sends out short stories with orders in December – they have only 3 requirements to have it set during Christmas time, some part of the story set in the bookstore, and, of course, include a mystery of some sort.
That honestly and surprisingly hit the spot for me – I got a Christmas read in and additionally found those new authors and explored more in the mystery genre.
